Last month, our James turned 11 years old a week after we had moved Jacob into Gatton Academy. So that Jacob wouldn’t miss out on James’ birthday celebration, we organized two birthday outings for James this year. To celebrate James’ birthday early with Jacob, we went to Chaney’s Dairy Barn in Bowling Green for lunch followed by old-fashioned homemade ice-cream for dessert and then to Ralphie’s Fun Center in Glasgow for bowling, laser tag and roller skating. On the date of James’ birthday, David, James and I went to Heitzman Traditional Bakery & Deli in Louisville early for breakfast and then to Dave and Busters in Oxmoor Mall for James to play arcade games. Finally, after spending some time in the mall, we went to Vietnam Kitchen for lunch because James felt like eating a bowl of spicy beef noodle soup.
Birthday breakfast at Heitzman Traditional Bakery & Deli
David had a donut; I had a cheese Danish; and James had a caramel Danish. For James’ birthday “cake,” we bought a Butterkuchen which is a Heitzman version of a traditional German butter cake.

David felt like being goofy while we were waiting for our food.

To conclude, James had a birthday filled with food and fun. For his birthday gift this year, James got to go with his parents to an NFL game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, TN.
