Beautiful snapdragons

This summer we tried growing snapdragons from seeds with satisfying results. Although we had to sacrifice a whole pot of sprouts to a very hungry and furry caterpillar, two pots of snapdragon sprouts survived and grew. When they were strong enough, we repotted the young plants into three pots. They eventually grew to fill up all three pots. Their graceful and delicate blooms in the shape of a dragon’s mouth with a watercolor finish in many colors and shades surprised and charmed us every day this summer. The snapdragon flower is one of a few kinds that come in almost all colors.

Here they are, grouped by colors and shades.

Although merely an annual, snapdragon plants are hardy enough to survive and bloom in a climate with mild winter even when they are not in the ground. We had a freeze last night with temperature plunging below 30-degree Fahrenheit, but the dainty, elegant flowers did not get frostbitten. Hurrah for snapdragons!!

About David and Lam

A smitten couple and loving parents in our early 40s. We have lived in 3 different countries together. We dream of living in a fourth country together after our children grow up. We love long walks in the woods, climbing mountains, boating, traveling, reading, and being together. Both David and Lam are old souls who love quietness and meaningful conversations in which we ponder the truth and mysteries of life as well as discuss philosophical and ethical matters. We especially like to enjoy the small pleasures of daily life.
