Liam is our blond cat who is part Main Coon and part another breed. He is our second cat after Laura, who was killed by some fearsome creature in our backyard during COVID. Although we originally adopted Liam, he ended up adopting each of us in turn. With his completely natural, innocent and playful ways, he helps us with our woes, both physical and mental, and enjoys being in the family’s midst every time we gather together in the living room. When left to himself, he enjoys napping, chasing after his toy mice, exploring the closets, basement and the upstairs bedroom, and “dancing” around table legs.
He first came to us when I was very sick. I have a delicate physical constitution and would usually get cold and allergy symptoms every time the weather changes from one season to another. It was during one of those wet and blustery late autumn evenings when Liam was brought to me in my dimly lit bedroom as I was lying in bed and feeling miserable. Whenever I was sick, I would usually recuperate quickly if I was able to sleep well. During my seasonal sickness that year, however, I was not able to bounce back easily due to a severe lack of sleep. It was a wretched time indeed for all of us in the household. With his sweet nature, luxurious soft fur and caring gaze, Liam would curl up on my stomach and brought me warmth and comfort to help me recover.
After adopting and supporting me through that long illness, Liam adopted Jacob and started spending a lot of time in his room. We believe that Liam’s calm and cheerful company helped Jacob a good deal through the challenging yet mundane process of doing schoolwork at home during COVID.
Although primarily Jacob’s “roommate” and best friend, Liam makes sure to spend time with each of us. He spends time with David every morning at his chair before David starts getting ready for work. He usually hangs around me and rubs on me during my morning yoga and Pilates routine. Now that Jacob has been away from home since he started school at the Gatton Academy, Liam is spending more time with James before James goes to school and in the evening. When Jacob was still living at home, Liam loved spending time on the boy’s couch with Jacob and James during our evening routine.
James loves bringing out his sketch books, books and toys from his bedroom to the living room. He enjoys reading, drawing and playing near the fire close to his parents, and Liam loves hanging out around and on top of all of James’ objects.
James and Liam love sitting by the fire together.

Liam is fascinated with David’s work shoes.

Liam matches many of our furniture items perfectly.
We enjoy taking picture of Liam because he is a really pretty cat and quite photogenic. Among ourselves, we joke about how we regularly “paparazzi” Liam.
May everyone everywhere find such delight and comfort in their pets as we have done in Liam!
