Us and Our Neighborhood

Here are pictures we’ve collected of us and the scenes in and around the area we live in (and us being us – sometimes quite ridiculous – in them). Click on the first photo to enlarge and browse all of these shots and see the captions under each, or just scroll down to see smaller images with the captions.

Bi with some of her new orchids and flowering shrubs.

Bi with more of her orchids and shrubs.

Bi’s pink shrub.

Bi’s orchids.

Bi’s white shrub.

View from our balcony. This building looks exactly like ours and is across the way through a park.

Field just next to our building near dusk. We love it because it is so rare in Saigon, so quiet and a nice reminder of countrysides we’ve been in (including just outside my home town in Kansas!).

Same field – shot taken from the small hill in the field. Our building is just in frame on the right.

Jacob’s ‘country boy’ look – complete with straw in mouth.

Another ‘country’ shot of Jacob – this time more pensive. This and the previous one were both taken on a stroll in the park two blocks from our place.

Bi and Jacob feeding the fish – at the park just across from our place. Ba Ngoai (Bi’s mom) supervising the proceedings.

Ooh la la – Daddy like!

Jacob loving his float. This and the next photo of Bi were both taken in the pool at our building. We’re there everyday on the weekend and 1-2 times during the week. Fantastic in this climate.

Field and road next to our building at dusk.

Don’t know which is more colorful. This car was parked out back of our building – snapped this on an early evening walk around our place.

…and now the wife joking around. On the road between our building and the neighboring field.

Don’t leave me out! I want to be ridiculous too! (This is my best ‘sassy-teenage-girl taking photo by the river’ shot). This was taken next to the river near our place.

About David and Lam

A smitten couple and loving parents in our early 40s. We have lived in 3 different countries together. We dream of living in a fourth country together after our children grow up. We love long walks in the woods, climbing mountains, boating, traveling, reading, and being together. Both David and Lam are old souls who love quietness and meaningful conversations in which we ponder the truth and mysteries of life as well as discuss philosophical and ethical matters. We especially like to enjoy the small pleasures of daily life.
