Jacob is 6!

Jacob turned 6 this past Saturday. He had a party at school on Friday (also Dr. Seuss’ birthday) and we took his cake  and party hats, noisemakers, etc. to his school. It just so happened his friend William shares the same birthday with Jacob! So, there were two parties and then kids got loads of treats, games and singing.

He got a Spiderman notebook and pencil from his friend William. He also got a huge birthday hat which he wore around the house all night Friday and most of Saturday.

We also celebrated his actual birthday Saturday by making it his day. He got to decide what we ate and what we did the whole day. He got to eat birthday cake and Mentos for lunch (with some veggies Mom later insisted he eat) and got to have his favorite kind of fried rice at the restaraunt in our building just below us. His great uncle Hoang stopped by and brought him some special candy as well, so he’s good on sugar for now.

At dinner, he opened his gifts from us and his remaining gift from his Auntie Karen. He got an air-powered rocket which turns into a helicopter (sort of) upon descent, play-doh (because he’s been really into making things out of clay lately) and a Junior Scrabble board game.

Finally, here he is launching his rocket – he tried first with his feet and then tried with his hands here. Later he perfected how to get it the highest – using his butt! He really got a kick out of that.

So, a good birthday and one worth remembering. – Dave

About David and Lam

A smitten couple and loving parents in our early 40s. We have lived in 3 different countries together. We dream of living in a fourth country together after our children grow up. We love long walks in the woods, climbing mountains, boating, traveling, reading, and being together. Both David and Lam are old souls who love quietness and meaningful conversations in which we ponder the truth and mysteries of life as well as discuss philosophical and ethical matters. We especially like to enjoy the small pleasures of daily life.
