Jacob and James Lately

Jacob
Strengths: Playfulness, Loyalty, Temperance
Weaknesses: Messiness, Shyness

Well, he is growing up for sure. Today is the first day he started taking the school bus both ways to school and back. Although Daddy confessed that he would miss spending time with Jacob in the car in the mornings, this development will make our morning routine less hectic.

Jacob is still learning to clean up after himself. After he takes his bubble bath with James, there will usually be a pile of his clothes on the bathroom floor. After he changes clothes in the bedroom, there will usually be clothes scattered all over the bedroom floor. He loves piling his numerous books on the couch and on the coffee table.

However, he has learned to take care of more things. He is now making his own lunch sandwiches for the week. He no longer needs reminder and prompting to finish his homework.

We have been talking to Jacob about improving his social and church manners. Our Jacob is not sociable and he is really bored during church.

James
Strengths: Organization, Sociability, Physical Activeness
Weaknesses: Temper, Dominance

James these days are both hilarious and annoying.

He loves to decorate his face with Mommy’s face cream, lip balm, lip gloss and lipstick. He likes to put Mommy’s colorful hair bands on his wrists and call himself “Princess.” We told him he is not a princess but a king as in “King James.” So James calls himself “King Princess” or “Princess King.”  Hilarious!

He loves to fight with Jacob using sticks he picks up in the backyard. When Jacob gets aggressive, James would run away. Then Jacob would call him a coward.

James loves to play ball with Daddy and to play with his fishing pole in the backyard. He actually thinks he is fishing in the backyard. He loves to help when Mommy is cooking. After he helped me make rice crispy treat this morning, he told me “Good job, Mom!” while holding up his thumb. It was an enchanting moment for me as a mother.

James annoys us most when he jumps and shouts on the couch. He loves to jump on us when we sit on the couch.

James is being successfully toilet-trained. He totally decided when he was ready.

About David and Lam

A smitten couple and loving parents in our early 40s. We have lived in 3 different countries together. We dream of living in a fourth country together after our children grow up. We love long walks in the woods, climbing mountains, boating, traveling, reading, and being together. Both David and Lam are old souls who love quietness and meaningful conversations in which we ponder the truth and mysteries of life as well as discuss philosophical and ethical matters. We especially like to enjoy the small pleasures of daily life.
