This year Edward Jones treated us to a comfortable stay at the magnificent Union Station Hotel and fun outings in St Louis, Missouri. St Louis means a lot to us because both David and I graduated from Webster University there and Jacob was born in St Luke’s Hospital in one of the West counties adjacent to St Louis County.
Our friends Keith Welsh, Joe Stimpfl and Brother Sixtus Roslevich are still there in St Louis. Keith’s house is on Lafayette Ave. Joe lives in the South Grand neighborhood. Brother Sixtus is a Catholic monk at the St Louis Abbey in Creve Coeur. It’s so fitting that David is working for Edward Jones whose headquarters is in St Louis.
Our First Day
On our first day, we took the Edward Jones bus to visit their headquarters. We had a meeting there with the Managing Partner Jim Weddle. He is the highest leader in the firm. We also took a guided tour of his office and the facilities. He travels in a black Lincoln Town car with his wife and a driver. His driver carries a gun and a pair of handcuffs.
When David and I were in our meeting, Jacob and James had fun and snacks in their children activities divided by age groups. The boys acquired octopus friends from a balloon artist at their children activities.
In Our Room
May the Force Be with You
The theme for the EJ Summer Regional Meeting this year is Star Wars. The boys got their light sabers and got to fight with Darth Vader and 2 storm troopers in the hotel lobby on our first night.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game…
We really enjoyed the baseball game between St Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.
St Peter’s Basilica
We drove to the Central West End to visit our old neighborhood. We also wanted to pay homage to a historic and beautiful Catholic cathedral.
The Magnificent Union Station Hotel Lobby
Union Station hotel in St Louis was once the busiest and largest train station in the world in its rich 120-year history.
Words cannot describe how beautiful it is. Hence, the photos.
Our Last Day
We had a great stay in St Louis. We look forward to passing through there on our way to Kansas in July.
