We played football and soccer in our backyard

Today we stayed inside all morning. After getting up, David and I watched a very funny old movie called Life with Father. While we watched our movie, Jacob played a World War II video game on his laptop, and James played an NFL game on the smart TV in Jacob’s room. After our Saturday morning’s entertainment routine, we ate breakfast and did our house chores. While we were taking care of things inside the house, the wind swirled and howled around our roof and chimney. Many times when I looked out the living room window, I saw the Maple tree’s bare branches shake violently from side to side.

After our lunch, the wind subsided, and we decided to go out to the backyard to enjoy some fresh air and physical activities. At first, David and James practiced throwing and catching the football together. After a little while, the four of us divided into two teams to play soccer against one another. Jacob and I teamed up and defeated the other team with four goals. David and James scored two goals. I am still feeling sore right now from all the running, kicking and shouting I did while playing soccer with the boys.

I hope you notice in the video that we have a pile of branches in the corner of our backyard. Those are all the dead and fallen branches we have collected from our front lawn and backyard throughout the winter. This year, we have had some heavy storms and powerful wind gusts up till now. We are planning to burn those branches any day now, and I will update this blog with a video of our bonfire.

Happy weekend to everyone!

About David and Lam

A smitten couple and loving parents in our early 40s. We have lived in 3 different countries together. We dream of living in a fourth country together after our children grow up. We love long walks in the woods, climbing mountains, boating, traveling, reading, and being together. Both David and Lam are old souls who love quietness and meaningful conversations in which we ponder the truth and mysteries of life as well as discuss philosophical and ethical matters. We especially like to enjoy the small pleasures of daily life.
