This banquet, held at Swans Landing (a swanky event venue) in Taylor Country, was organized by Campbellsville High School to celebrate sophomores, juniors and seniors who are in the top 10% of their classes. Jacob originally didn’t want to attend this event because it took place on a Sunday afternoon. One of Jacob’s rules for living is that the weekend is only for rest, relaxation and recreation. He hates any school or social obligation on the weekends. Therefore, he had mentioned the event only casually to us before tossing out the invitation. We eventually learned about this event details when the school secretary called us up one day to ask if we were going to the banquet.
We were glad we all went to the banquet although it was a rainy Sunday afternoon and David stepped in a mud puddle on the way from the parking lot to the building. He had to go to the bathroom to wash the mud off his dress shoes. At the event, we saw some of Jacob’s schoolmates including a boy whom he talks about a lot at home (Wyatt) and the girl he likes (Angelica). She is a junior and doesn’t know Jacob likes her. Most importantly to me, I got to meet and thank the teachers who wrote Jacob’s recommendation letters for Gatton Academy.
