Words do not suffice to describe the richness and majestic beauty of the Smoky and Blue Ridge mountain ranges that we encountered on our road trip to Asheville, NC through Tennessee.
David and I love mountains and forests and were very satisfied by what we saw during our drive and our stay at the Grove Park Inn Resort. There were green, blue, grey mountains and illusive mountain peaks hiding in the clouds everywhere we looked.
Jacob seems to have taken it all in because that was his first ever long road trip. He was particularly delighted when we drove through tunnels in the mountains. While driving in the dark tunnels we felt as if we were on an Indiana Jones adventure. It felt fun.
I learned that these mountain ranges were formed billions of years ago when the continent of Africa collided with North America.
The though that these mountains have been here, standing tall, ever since is so humbling to me. This thought creates the same effect as when one thinks of all the celestial bodies, milky ways and universes existing out there beyond the earth’s sky. In the presence of such towering, gorgeous, seemingly infinite nature, one feels tiny, insignificant and at the same time amazed at having the knowledge of things and events existing beyond human’s grasp and time.
